I thought onboard cams are very suited to make the viewer feel like he's in the whole action, so I didn't avoid those. seems to work, thx
yup the look of the front end was one of the reasons why I put that scene in. it somehow fits to the rather aggressive song and racing, I thought
I agree - to be honest, I expected to get a lot more criticism or improvement suggestions, since I am not 100% satisfied with several things. (e.g. some camera angles, boring scenes, using some scenes twice, some cuts that are not completely synchronal, the ms-paint-introscreen, too low or loud gamesounds .. - I didn't want to put all the whining in my first post, already )
but I wanted to get the video done before university would start again - and since it's not important to me to publish perfect videos I decided to upload this version instead of waiting for my next holidays, when I'd have time to overwork it.
I made another video, wheel2wheel. it's all about single seater racing, including the fox, fo8, bf1 and mainly fbm. some close and tough racing, passes, crashes, mainly shown with custom onboard cameras, something for the racing freaks I hope - enjoy!
a few camera angles and effects looked quite random to me, while others were just awsome and different from those that you see in "every" video. also I enjoyed most of the footage a lot, such a long video but I didn't get bored at any time. the music was alright, I would have picked a more exciting/catchy song but this seems to work, too.
indeed it was not more than a frapsed onboard sequence, but since your post already let me know what to expext (no hollywood effects etc) I didn't really mind. the racing itself looked good and clean to me, so I enjoyed watching it.
of course cuts, a variety of (singleseater-)cars and a restriction to the passes, defending moves, wheel-to-wheel cornering and anything like that would make the video more intensive, but I'm sure you know that. effects are not even needed for this kind of videos (considering it to be a racing movie in first instance), imo.
well, my advice is that you don't let the harsh critics discourage you, try to learn from those, no matter how upset you are for the moment when reading those!
I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd give it a chance and watch your next video/movie, so keep trying and don't give up

Reason : damn those typos! :)
well I don't like story-telling movies at all.. so I rarely watch them.. but this one was certainly the best one I've ever seen! first I thought with its nearly 10 minutes it will be way too long and boring, but that wasn't the case.
nice variety of camera angles, sounds and songs - and the elements of racing even persuaded the racing fanatic in me
I love racing movies and they're so rare in lfs. this is definitely a great one, although I usually prefer the fights to be shown with more exciting music - I haven't seen race-action with such a relaxing music, but somehow it seems to work great, well done!
I loved the beginning, then there were some static cams which imo don't match the music, also I noticed some minor lag (on the oval part). but all in all I enjoyed it, especially the black and white slomotion part - looking forward to the final movie!
thanks for all the feedback, I'm glad that lots of you people enjoyed watching the video
about the colours/contrast .. personally I preferred the original LFS colours and used those for my videos, but meanwhile I think it looks kinda boring. I know that some people don't really like high contrast and others don't like the "boring" lfs colours, so I just kept trying until it looked like I like it most at the moment
I've run out of tarmac there, didn't have enough room to countersteer anymore - otherwise I might not have flipped over, who knows
for my taste the video could be a bit shorter and include more cuts - which isn't easy at all, for showing scenes which are long, I know
I did like the notes you put in here and there, also I enjoyed the intro and the sudden end which, imo, fit perfectly to the song. also the vid reminded me of my lfs impressions video, which I made a year back
yup I thought about that too.. but since I did not use the word "teaser" in the thread, I thought this one thread will do. I hope it gets some attention anyway
it's "Pogo Prose" by ... *caugh* .. the "Brainless Wankers"
I didn't want to have those words in the credits
not sure if I got you right - but if so, try this:
audio -> [x] full compressing mode and [x] use advanced filtering .. then audio -> filters -> add ... add "input", "stretch" and "output".. close that add-filter-window and doubleclick the stretch-element in the filter-window... then set the number with which you recorded (0.25 if you recorded with 1/4 speed) ... then press the test button and hopefully notice a proper sound
then, back in the main window, it might happen that the sound still sounds wrong (at least that happens for me), but after rendering and saving the video, it's alright
thx, I'll try!
actually I did plan to upload a version with way more contrast and some other filters but I couldn't fix a bug that occured when saving the video. whatever I tried, I couldn't get rid of a few huge and ugly pixels here and there, after the flashes. hope I can solve the problem for the full vid
I thought about that too, but then decided that I don't want to give away too much of the footage already.
hope I can arouse some interest anyway!
after struggling with my software I finally got the video finished today. I used a lot of torsdagsrace-footage so some of you guys might find theirselves in the video. please post comments if you liked it or got improvement suggestions or anything else!
well there's not much left to say, I hope you enjoy it
/!\ this is not the trailer, it's the full movie! /!\

I'm trying to set up a costum in the xfg. I placed the somewhere in the middle of the car and roteted it by 180° to get a reversed view. then, because I want to rotate the cam on the z-axis while recording a clip, I set "look function" to "ms x". but when using that cam, the movement range won't work in the reversed direction but only to the front (and only in the range that the driver's head is possible to move, it seems).
I'm sure I've seen such reversed and rotating cams in some movies before, so it must work somehow. can anyone help me? what option did I forget to set?
usually I don't like this kind of movies but I somehow enjoyed this one
I especially liked the camera work, the music wasn't anything special to me but it matched quite well.
I think the credits are a bit too long compared to the "rest" but that's alright because it's very original, not just a boring list of facts. and if you hadn't mentioned that you didn't put a lot of time and effort in this video, one might think it was a bigger project :P
I watched the google version and I enjoyed it a lot, it's really a pity that I can't download the video - 25 hours left atm until the download will be finished (filefront ftw -.-), but my internet crashes every few hours, so no chance to finish it
isn't there anyone who can put the vid on his server? I'm sure a few of you got some spare traffic to share
